FedEx “Returned to Shipper” — what it actually means
FedEx gave up delivering and is sending it back to the sender. Common causes: undeliverable address, refused package, or unclaimed at a facility.
Why packages get stuck here
- Address could never be resolved
- Recipient refused or didn't claim in time
- Customs or documentation failure (international)
How long it usually lasts: The return trip can take as long as the outbound.
What to actually do
- Contact the sender immediately — refunds/reships happen after it arrives back
- If the address was right, dispute it: screenshots of the full tracking history help
- Don't wait for the return to complete to start the conversation
