FedEx “Out for Delivery” — what it actually means
It's on the truck. Today's the day — probably.
Why packages get stuck here
- Driver ran out of hours or route time (status reverts to "at facility")
- Wrong-truck misload discovered mid-route
- Weather or access issues on the route
How long it usually lasts: Same day, by end of delivery hours (often 8 PM for Ground).
What to actually do
- Be reachable — some exceptions just mean "nobody answered"
- If it flips back to "In Transit" at night, it rides again tomorrow
- Two failed "out for delivery" days = call and ask what the driver noted
