USPS “Label Created, Not Yet in System” — what it actually means
The label is printed and paid, but USPS hasn't scanned the item. USPS is famous for the gap between "label created" and first scan — the package may genuinely be moving with no scans yet.
Why packages get stuck here
Seller hasn't dropped it off
Drop-box packages wait for the next pickup to get their first scan
USPS skips acceptance scans under volume — packages enter the stream invisibly
How long it usually lasts: Days. The pre-acceptance gap can swallow a package for a week while it actually moves.
What to actually do
This status alone for 3–5 days is genuinely normal
Ask the sender to confirm the actual drop-off date
After 7+ days, the sender can request a Mail Recovery search
